Opt-in Data Collection for WordPress plugin
Problem
We tried the Freemius WordPress plugin for opt-in data collection on our free WordPress plugin, but found this was very unsatisfactory.
Freemius is very big & cumbersome & gives us very little useful information. It is really just a way for an existing SAAS product (which is aimed at selling web software), to try to access the WordPress market. It’s a SAAS product – the WordPress plugin is an afterthought.
Solution
Build an initially simple custom opt-in data collection plugin that meets our needs.
We can follow the general techniques used in the Freemius plugin to create a custom plugin which:
- allows users to gives us opt-in data collection persmission which meets wordpress.org requirements
- collects from users the info we want.
- provides a method for ongoing engagement with CF7 Skins users.
